Body & music awareness, memory exercises, directional movement, basic tumbling & classroom etiquette are also taught. Students will learn and present two recital dances for each semester to be performed at the Academy in Dec and May. (see Academy Performing Opportunities section for further info).

Creative Dance 2 (CD2):  (ages 4-6) A 1 hour class building upon the themes of CD1 with more challenging movements. In addition, students may choose to take tap or jazz as part of class. Creative Dance 3 (CD3):  (ages 6-8) An hour and fifteen minute class incorporating basic ballet barre exercises as well as more advanced center work, continuing the themes of Creative Dance 2. For second semester, students will learn 2 dances to present for the Spring Show as part of their class time. (see Academy Performing Opportunities section for further info).

Ballet Levels 4-7:  (ages 8 & up) A technique class based primarily on the Vaganova method, with elements of Cecchetti, RAD, Bournanville, and Balanchine techniques taught. Barre work, stretching, center floor & across the floor exercises are part of every class. Correct terminology is emphasized.

Jazz Levels 4-7:  A comprehensive technique and choreography class including isolations, floor stretching, core strengthening, center & progression exercises. 08-09 classes will focus on New York and Chicago style jazz (also hip hop for levels 6 & 7) incorporating the use of different props for dance.

Lyrical Jazz Levels 4-7:  A technique and choreography class that is fusion of jazz and ballet (with some modern elements). The emphasis is on slower sustained and controlled movements with age appropriate ballad style pop, latin or R&B music as accompaniment. A softer more balletic style of jazz.

Modern Levels 4-7:  A technique and choreography class that teaches different ways to move through space with more connection to the floor. Self expression, feelings & emotions specifically related to music & movement are explored, with the use of African drum and percussion music as part of the curriculum.
